Coteaux Languedoc Blanc 'Manon' Clos Marie 2023
Artisanal
Organic and biodynamicThe Coteaux Languedoc Blanc “Manon Blanc” by Clos Marie is an intriguing and enveloping white produced from grapes harvested near the jewel of Languedoc, Pic Saint-Loup. The winery works in an artisanal manner, following the principles of biodynamics to enhance the territory to the fullest. Herbaceous hints of mint emerge from the glass, which together with iodine notes and tropical fruit create a unique and surprising profile. On the palate, it surprises again, the sip is fresh, crisp, mineral, and pleasantly bitter on the finish. To be tried with ethnic dishes like a moderately spicy curry
The Coteaux Languedoc Blanc ‘Manon’ from the artisanal estate Clos Marie is a sincere Mediterranean interpretation, derived from a rich blend of white grape varieties. Clos Marie was officially founded in 1994 by Christophe Peyrus and Françoise Julien, a husband and wife who recovered her family vineyards, which had long been dedicated to supplying a local cooperative. This Domaine is one of the most important in the entire Languedoc, creating expressions that rank at the top quality of the area. Among these is the ‘Manon’, whose name is dedicated to the daughter of Christophe and Françoise.
The Clos Marie Coteaux du Languedoc Blanc ‘Manon’ consists of an assembly of Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, Muscat, Rolle, and Roussanne. The vines, cultivated according to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, are located on soils made up of sedimentary clay, rich in gypsum and limestone. The grapes are hand-picked, partially destemmed, and then gently pressed.Subsequently, the mass ferments spontaneously in steel tanks and then matures for several months in wooden barrels.
The ‘Manon’ Blanc Coteaux du Languedoc Clos Marie is straw yellow with golden hues. The olfactory profile is painted with floral and citrus notes such as lemon, adorned with aromas of tropical fruit like passion fruit, herbaceous perceptions of mint, and iodized hints. Flavorful, crisp, and precise is the tasting, with a pleasant freshness that combines with a persistent savory trail and tasty softness. The long persistence recalls fine mineral sensations. The ‘Manon’ Blanc has a decent longevity and represents an excellent pairing with structured seafood dishes.
