Carignan Crianza 'Samsó' Casa Mariol
Artisanal
Exclusive wineryThe Carignan Crianza ‘Samsó’ from Casa Mariol is a red wine made from pure Cariñena grapes. Fresh, pleasant and creamy, it is aged for around 16 months in oak barrels, acquiring, in addition to the typical hints of violets and prunes, aromas of toasted notes and cocoa. Goes perfectly with a plate of Serrano ham or the traditional ‘fricassee’ of chicken or rabbit
The Carignan Crianza ‘Samsó’ from the Spanish bodega Casa Mariol is a label with a generous personality produced in the territory of Terra Alta, a comarca located in the southernmost part of Catalonia. This area, which gives its name to the homonymous denomination, is characterized by relatively high altitudes, hence the name Terra Alta. It was the Romans 2,000 years ago who introduced viticulture to the area, an art that was nurtured by the Knights Templar during the Middle Ages. Carignano, locally called “Samsó”, represents one of the main grape varieties of the territory, which here benefits from a Mediterranean climate with continental influences, characterized by the strong presence of a dry wind called “El Cierzo”.
The Terra Alta ‘Samsó’ Carignan Casa Mariol Crianza is a 100% Cariñena, another name for Carignano, grown in soils with high clay and limestone content. Following the harvest, the bunches are transferred to the winery where the classic red winemaking occurs with alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks in contact with the skins. Once the fermentation process is completed, the wine is transferred to American oak barrels for 16 months of aging before the final bottling.
Visually, the Carignan ‘Samsó’ Terra Alta Crianza from Casa Mariol expresses a ruby red color with garnet reflections. The aromas range from intense notes of dried plum and violet, with toasted sensations and cocoa enriching the olfactory context along with a slight exotic touch. The sip is pleasant in its balance between the almost creamy softness and the well-present freshness, components that accompany the velvety tannic texture in a finish of tasty persistence, where the fruity and floral perceptions sensed on the nose return.
