PINOT BLANC 'EICHHORN' MANINCOR 2022 DESCRIPTION

Manincor's "Eichhorn" Pinot Blanc is an elegant blend of freshness, salinity, and refinement. Or rather, it's a kind of unusual synthesis of the Alps and the Mediterranean, as suggested by Count Michael Goëss-Enzenberg, owner of the Manincor estate. He describes this Pinot Blanc as a wine that "is bright and has floral fragrances like alpine meadows, but also persistent and aromatic like the sea". This description perfectly encapsulates not only this wine's personality but also the winery's production philosophy. Nature and its preservation are Count Michael's aspirations, which is why he decided to convert his production to organic farming and to work according to biodynamic principles. The goal is to create a harmonious unity between man, environment, and wine.

"Eichhorn" is made from Pinot Blanc grapes sourced from the vineyard of the same name. It is located at the Leiben Aich estate in Terlano, characterized by sandy, porphyritic volcanic soil and a warm microclimate. After harvesting and destemming, the grapes are left to macerate in the press with the skins, enriching them with aromatic complexity and structure. Part of the subsequent alcoholic fermentation takes place in wooden barrels; indigenous yeasts carry out the entire process, which imparts a highly territorial character to the wine. These same yeasts accompany the ageing of the wine in oak barrels for four months.

The colour of this South Tyrolean Pinot Blanc is bright yellow. It opens on the nose with scents of ripe apple and white flowers, with an underlying mineral trail reminiscent of wet limestone. On the palate, it showcases its elegance through an interplay of salinity and freshness, along with a fruity memory that extends the persistence. The finesse of the South Tyrolean whites blends with the tradition of the Manincor family, giving rise to expressive and delicate products.
