"Agrotys" is a Frappato from the Licodia Eubea area of great freshness and delicacy that also pairs easily with fish dishes. It expresses a very fruity and floral aromatic array with light spicy incursions. The sip is balanced and fine, with a clear fresh and savoury note
Sicilian winemaker Beniamino Fede presents Frappato di Vittoria 'Agrotys', an expression that stands out for its fragrant fruity scents. Frappato is a traditional grape variety in the Vittoria area, where it has been cultivated since at least the 17th century, as various testimonies report. This grape is often used in blends with Nero d'Avola since its characteristics can tame the important structure. The name 'Frappato' seems to derive from the term 'fruity', referring to the intense red and black fruit aromas of the wine to which it gives rise.
Beniamino Fede's Frappato di Vittoria 'Agrotys' is made exclusively from Frappato grapes grown in Contrada Giurfo on limestone-sandy soil. Here, the vines benefit from an altitude of 280 metres above sea level and a temperate climate characterised by mild winters and dry, breezy summers. In the cellar, alcoholic fermentation takes place spontaneously in stainless steel silos using only indigenous yeasts. The subsequent maturation phase always takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel for 9 months, followed by at least 3 months of bottle ageing before final marketing.
The colour of Frappato di Vittoria 'Agrotys' from Beniamino Fede's small estate is a luminous ruby red with violet hues. Vivid fruity aromas of wild red berries and cherries emerge on the nose, enhanced by hints of Mediterranean herbs and rose petals. Delicate and fine taste development, fresh and savoury, characterised by a soft tannic structure. This red wine of exceptional versatility can successfully accompany platters of medium-aged cheeses and cured meats, white or red meat dishes, or even decisively flavoured fish dishes.
