The Freisa del Monferrato by Tenuta Migliavacca comes from a winery located in San Giorgio Monferrato, on the first hills of Casale Monferrato, an area renowned for the production of quality red wines. The winery is family-run and took its first steps in the post-war period with Enrico Brezza, who purchased a noble Villa with a few hectares of land around it. The passion for winemaking and the world of wine has been passed down to subsequent generations, and a few years later, his son Andrea begins the actual production of a few thousand bottles. In 1964, it became the first winery in Italy to pursue the principles of biodynamic cultivation for grape growing; today Francesco Brezza is the proud owner of this business and manages about 13 hectares of vineyards, along with other crops of hay and cereals.
The pure Freisa grapes of the Freisa del Monferrato by Tenuta Migliavacca are grown on soils nourished with organic and natural compost, derived from cattle farming, thus creating a sort of circular economy useful for making the soils fertile. The soil is mainly composed of limestone and clay, components that contribute to creating wines with character; the climate in this area is continental with hot and sultry summers and cold, humid winters with sporadic frosts. The harvest is strictly conducted by hand, and once in the winery, the bunches undergo destemming-crushing; this is followed by spontaneous fermentation in barriques and maceration on the skins for up to 15 days. It ages in steel for 6 months.
The Freisa del Monferrato by Tenuta Migliavacca presents itself with a ruby red color and brilliant reflections; the nose perceives aromas of raspberry, currant, pomace, and subtle mineral notes that linger for a long time. On the palate, the structure is powerful, balanced by a round softness with present tannins, yet pleasant to drink. It pairs excellently with cold cuts, white meats in stew, first courses with meat-based sauces, and aged cheeses for a precious end of meal. A product to share with lifelong friends or at family reunions, drinking a wine that encapsulates in
