Elio Altare's Langhe Rosso 'Giàrborina' is a pure Nebbiolo in which structure and finesse go hand in hand. It is a well-known fact that Nebbiolo is a varietal in which body and tannins abound, and in this interpretation these peculiarities are finely integrated in an enveloping drink that permeates the entire tasting, while the nose reveals primary scents and tertiary aromas that go hand in hand, alternating with a pressing rhythm. A fine label, perfect as a gift for fans of Piedmontese reds.
The 'Giàrborina' wine is a Langhe Rosso that Elio Altare produces from Nebbiolo grapes, cultivated in old vineyards in La Morra, in a soil characterised by clayey and sandy marls facing south. In the vineyard, the approach is 'clean' as no synthetic chemicals, fertilisers or pesticides are used. The must ferments in steel rotary fermenters where the temperature is kept under control, macerating for 3-4 days. This is followed by the maturation phase, in which the wine is transferred to new oak barrels for 18 months. At the end of this refinement, the wine is bottled and put on the market.
The 'Giàrborina' Langhe Rosso signed by Elio Altare's cellar is a wine that develops in the glass with a concentrated, impenetrable ruby colour. The olfactory spectrum is orchestrated around a fruity range, from which emerge interesting balsamic nuances and more spicy hints. In the mouth, it is full-bodied, ample and enveloping, characterised by a juicy sip in which freshness and tannin harmonise to perfection. It closes with a finish endowed with excellent persistence. A classy wine, born from the mind of Elio Altare, one of the most charismatic and acclaimed winemakers in our country.
