Toro 'Lagarona Blanco' Bodegas Piedra 2021

The Toro ‘Lagarona Blanco’ from the winery Bodegas Piedra is characterized as a full-bodied and structured white wine, also distinguished by its excellent sensory complexity. This bottle is the result of a project to produce an elegant white wine through prolonged aging on fine lees in small oak and cherry barrels. For this purpose, three “Viñedos Singulares” were selected: los Valles, las Brozas, and Bocarrage, planted respectively in 1945, 1964, and 1965 with Albillo Real, Malvasia Castellana, and Verdejo. A small percentage of Godello from the Paredinas plot, planted back in 1927, is also included.

Bodegas Piedra Toro ‘Lagarona Blanco’ consists of a blend of the white grape varieties Albillo Real, Malvasia Castellana, Verdejo, and Godello, cultivated under certified organic farming. The harvest is done entirely by hand in crates and is followed by careful selection of the bunches, which are then subjected to soft crushing and pressing before fermentationof the must in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 18 °C. Once the fermentation process is completed, the mass is transferred to French oak and cherry barriques for 6 months of aging on fine lees, accompanied by weekly batonnage. This is followed by an additional 6 months of bottle aging before final commercialization.

The ‘Lagarona Blanco’ Toro from Bodegas Piedra has a bright straw-yellow color with golden reflections. The bouquet offers aromas of yellow-fleshed fruit and white flowers that blend with hints of aromatic herbs and Mediterranean scrub, as well as refined woody suggestions.
