The Toro 'Paredinas' from Bodegas Piedra winery is a smooth and enveloping red wine made from Tinta de Toro, a typical variety from DO Toro, in Castilla y Leon. The nose expresses intense notes of berries, plum, cherry, accompanied by pleasant spicy nuances due to the 24-month aging in wood, which also gives great roundness to the wine, with a long and persistent finish. A wine of great elegance and finesse, which can evolve a few years in the cellar and express its deep and austere profile to the fullest

The Toro ‘Paredinas’ represents one of the most prestigious and classy labels produced by the Spanish winery Bodegas Piedra. This bottle comes from a single vineyard with unique and precious characteristics named Paredinas, which gives the wine its name, planted back in 1927 on a hilly terrain near the estate. The ‘Paredinas’ falls under the Toro denomination, located in the province of Zamora, an area where viticulture dates back to the 1st century BC, a period when the Ancient Greeks taught the local Celtic tribes how to cultivate the vine.

The ‘Paredinas’ Toro Bodegas Piedra is a pure expression of Tinta de Toro, a variety grown in the century-old vineyard of Paredinas on deep, low organic matter hilly soils, favorable factors for quality viticulture. The harvest is done by hand in crates at the beginning of October and, before vinification, the grapes undergo careful selection. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature with a prolonged maceration on the skins while the subsequent aging phase takes place in very fine-grained French oak barriques, containers in which the wine rests for 24 months until bottling.

To the eye, the Toro ‘Paredinas’ of Bodegas Piedra shows a beautiful intense garnet red hue. The refined and vivid aromatic profile consists of scents of cherry, plum, and blackberry, along with spicy notes and slight hints of Mediterranean scrub. The taste development is soft, intense, and enveloping, equipped with excellent fresh-salty structure, integrated tannins, and a very elegant and persistent finish. The recommendation is to pair the ‘Paredinas’ with flavorful first courses, succulent second courses, or aged cheeses.
