'La Mossa' Valtellina Superiore is a juicy, vertical red wine, the first ever bottle made by Marco Triacca's La Perla winery. Its name comes from Marco's passion for the Palio di Siena, where the start is called, precisely, "la mossa." As this is the first label launched by the Valtellina-based producer, it represents his starting point, hence the name. This interpretation aims to show the more accessible and dynamic face of Nebbiolo di Valtellina, locally called Chiavennasca, with its fine and fragrant personality.
Perla Valtellina Superiore 'La Mossa' is a 100% Nebbiolo grown on impervious terraces carved from sandy, silty soils of moraine origin in the cool, breezy climate of Valtellina. Manual harvesting in boxes is followed by crushing and destemming and then temperature-controlled alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, with about 20 days of contact between must and skins. The subsequent aging period takes place in oak barrels for 36 months, followed by at least 18 months of bottle aging.
In the glass, La Perla's Valtellina Superiore 'La Mossa' expresses a brilliant ruby red color. The olfactory panorama is lively and delicate, defined by hints of red fruits, flowers and herbs, enriched by delicate spicy notes. On the palate it is soft, fresh and juicy, with ripe tannins that guide the long finish of great taste-olfactory correspondence. By virtue of its articulate yet graceful character, Valtellina Superiore 'La Mossa' can accompany a wide range of dishes, especially different meats. Try it with traditional pizzoccheri, a delicious buckwheat pasta topped with savoy cabbage, cheese and potatoes.
