Tenuta Montenisa - Antinori
Tenuta Montenisa was born from the meeting of the ancient winemaking tradition of Marchesi Antinori and the suitable terroir of Franciacorta. The strong sparkling wine passion of Lodovico and Piero Antinori has been passed down since 1905 to the present day with Tenuta Montenisa. Here, the vineyards surrounding the villa owned by the Maggi family represent the beating heart of today’s sparkling wine production of Marchesi Antinori in Franciacorta.
The estate is located in the heart of Franciacorta, in the small and ancient village of Calino where, in the distant 1158, the extraordinary estate became the property of the counts Maggi of Brescia origin. Beneath the complex are the ancient cellars of the estate, where the bottles still gently rest today, as tradition dictates, receiving the utmost care during their maturation phase. The yields in the vineyard are kept low, and the grapes are harvested, as per tradition, slightly before full ripeness to best concentrate the freshness of the fruit. The cultivated varieties are those that represent mainly the wine-growing area: Pinot Nero and Chardonnay primarily, with some parcels of Pinot Bianco. The phases of winemaking follow the rules of the Metodo Classico, thus a first fermentation in steel, a long second fermentation in bottle in contact with the yeasts, and final disgorgement.
The production of Tenuta Montenisa is told through six sparkling wines, three of which belong to the “Classici”, dedicated to the selections of the cuvée blends, and another three “Millesimati” wines, produced only in the best vintages. The Franciacorta of Tenuta Montenisa is characterized by a elegant, fine, and fresh profile, marked by a delicate bouquet of citrus, pastry notes, dried fruit, and light mineral hints. The utmost excellence of Franciacorta in the name of Antinori!
