Bosio - Boschi dei Signori
The Bosio family has been producing wine in Santo Stefano Belbo, in the heart of the Langhe, for three generations. The story began in 1967 when Egidio Bosio, a forward-thinking farmer, began cultivating his own plots in Val Bera, a small side valley within the municipality made famous by the writer Cesare Pavese. His passion for the land was passed on to his son Valter, who gradually expanded the estate across the hills of Castiglione Tinella, Mango and Costigliole d’Asti, building trusting relationships over time with over 150 long-standing grape growers, who tend to more than 700 hectares across the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato. Today, Luca Bosio, an oenologist and the third generation of the family, works alongside his father in managing a wine-growing estate that encompasses all the main appellations of a region recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
The Bosio winery oversees the entire production process, from the delivery of the grapes to the final bottling. In the vineyard, the growers operate according to agreed guidelines: manual labour, selective harvesting and an assessment system based on the quality of the harvest, not the quantity. In the winery, vinification methods are simple and traditional, designed to preserve the varietal character of each grape variety. Research has led to the identification of indigenous local yeasts, selected to enhance the connection between each wine and its terroir of origin.
Bosio wines cover a wide and representative range of Piedmontese appellations: Barolo, Barbaresco, Gavi, Moscato d'Asti, Barbera and Alta Langa. Each bottle reflects its origin with distinct varietal aromas and a freshness that speaks of the microclimates of the hills. The style is classic and faithful to the farming tradition that founded this winery and continues to guide it.
