On the steep rocky promontories of the splendid Amalfi Coast stands the Marisa Cuomo winery, a jewel of Campania's winemaking tradition that has made the area famous in terms of wine production, constituting a precious case of heroic viticulture. Marisa Cuomo and Andrea Ferraioli founded this winery in 1980 in Furore, in the province of Salerno, relying on the advice of the renowned Campania professor and oenologist Luigi Moio. In particular, Andrea, a descendant of a family of winemakers, acquired the Gran Furor Divina Costiera brand, created in 1942 to enhance the wines of the Costa di Furore, with the aim of creating interpretations of exceptional quality that reflect the centuries-old tradition of his home town. The evocative wine cellar dug into the dolomitic-limestone rock also deserves a special mention, inside which the precious barrels are kept in an environment with optimal and constant temperature and humidity all year round.
The Marisa Cuomo winery directly and indirectly manages 20 hectares of terraced vineyards reserved for ancient, almost forgotten native vines, such as Ripoli, Fenile and Ginestra, destined for the flagship wine 'Fiorduva', but also Aglianico, Piedirosso, Falanghina and Biancolella. The vines, which are mainly grown by hand using the pergola method on almost vertical rock walls, at altitudes close to 550 metres above sea level, are kissed by the sun and shaken by salty breezes. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinification takes place mostly in stainless steel tanks using the most modern techniques in the industry. Instead, the subsequent ageing of the 'Fiorduva' and the top reds takes place in French oak barriques, with the rest of the range maturing in steel.
It is from these unique and evocative premises that the wines of Marisa Cuomo and Andrea Ferraioli take shape, multi-awarded national and international labels that express the sunshine and charm of the Amalfi Coast. Standing out among them all is the Furore Bianco 'Fiorduva', one of the greatest white wines of southern Italy, capable of condensing all the wine-growing potential of the area. Also noteworthy is the complexity of the Furore Rosso Riserva and, in general, the quality standards of the entire production.
