BAROLO 'PARUSSI' MASSOLINO 2017 DESCRIPTION

Massolino's Barolo "Parussi" is a red, intense, deep and austere wine that well reflects the character of the Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva Parussi, among the most northerly of the Castiglione Falletto commune. It is a Barolo with a classic and traditional profile, the result of selecting the best grapes from the cru and a long aging in oak barrels. Essential and elegant, it expresses aromas of small red berries, accompanied by refined evolutionary notes, which go to embellish the rich aromatic palette. Decisive and persistent, it lengthens on the palate with a beautiful flavor progression. A splendid label, highlighting the best qualities of the Castiglione Falletto terroir.

Barolo wine "Parussi" comes from a historic winery in Langhe. Massolino began its activity in the late 19th century in Serralunga d'Alba and today owns about 25 hectares distributed in various areas of the Barolo appellation, with some fine plots in the Additional Geographical Mentions of: Margheria, Parafada, Vigna Rionda and Parussi. The winery's philosophy has always remained faithful to tradition, seeking to interpret the terroir as best as possible to capture all its nuances. The labels dedicated to the individual cru, which flank in classic Barolo assemblage, enhance precisely the typicality of each individual area, exalting its particularity and uniqueness.

Massolino's Rosso Barolo "Parussi" is a Barolo of great structure. It comes from Nebbiolo grapes of excellent quality, grown in the vineyards of Cru Parussi at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level, on limestone-clay soils with the presence of sand. Fermentation takes place in steel containers with a 2- to 3-week maceration on the skins. The wine matures for at least 30 months in French oak barrels and finishes aging with 12 months in bottle. It shows a garnet red color. The olfactory profile is elegant, with aromas of herbs, licorice root, small red berries and delicate spices. The palate has a good structure, with a dense tannic texture, a long and deep sip, closing on pleasantly refreshing notes.
