The Vinos de Potrero Malbec Reserva is a label that, due to its important structure and finesse of aromas, highlights a remarkable territorial and varietal adherence. The relationship between Malbec and Argentina is a deep love story that began over a century ago when migratory flows from France brought this black grape variety of Bordeaux origin with them. In the wine region of Mendoza, where the Vinos de Potrero winery is located, Malbec has found its adopted zone of excellence. The Malbec Reserva Vinos de Potrero is a 100% Malbec from the Valle de Uco, Mendoza. The vines were planted in 2008 on predominantly calcareous soils, at over 1,350 meters above sea level. In the winery, the grapes are cold macerated for 5 days before the alcoholic fermentation takes place in concrete tanks and eggs, with extraction techniques that are adapted from time to time depending on the vintage. The resulting aging period takes place for 12 months in oak barrels of first and second passage and precedes bottling.
To the eye, the Reserva Malbec from Vinos de Potrero displays a deep red color with garnet reflections. The nose is a succession of aromas of ripe dark fruit, violet, sweet spices, cocoa, and boisé notes. Intense, warm, and full-bodied on the palate, where the firm tannins meet the lively freshness, leading to a savory finish with echoes consistent with the fruity and spicy sensations of the nose.
