FRIULANO BORGO SAN DANIELE 2021 DESCRIPTION

The Friulano of the Borgo San Daniele wine estate is worth of appreciation as it is a true representation of this variety and its terroir. This estate was founded in 1990 by siblings Mauro and Alessandra Mauri and can now count on 18 hectares of vineyards managed in accordance with the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, respecting the important territorial heritage to be preserved for future generations. From the outset, Mauro and Alessandra focused on the grape varieties traditionally grown in the area, including Friulano. The name San Daniele comes from the street of the same name in Cormons where the winery is located.

Borgo San Daniele's Friulano is made from only grapes of the white grape variety of the same name, grown according to biodynamic principles in the Braida della Colubice locality, within the municipality of Cormons. In the cellar, the grapes undergo a gentle crushing, followed by a short maceration process concluded by a soft pressing. The must thus obtained undergoes alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature and the wine rests on the yeasts until the spring following the harvest. Maturation of 8 months takes place mostly in stainless steel tanks, with 20% of the mass resting in oak barrels before bottling without filtration.

The Friulano from the Borgo San Daniele winery has a deep straw yellow colour. The nose offers aromas of summer fruit, wild flowers and citrus fruits, with a final perception of candied orange peel. The taste is soft and pleasantly aromatic, with a lovely freshness that is accompanied by a good savoury trail that anticipates the typical sweet almond finish. Because of its remarkable typicality, this bottle is an ideal accompaniment to traditional Friulian dishes such as 'cjarsons', an almost sweet stuffed pasta that can be served with various ingredients.
