Rancio Casa Mariol wine is a sweet wine made in Spain from late-harvested white grapes, matured in large oak barrels, where the mothers of the same wine have been aging and preserved since 1945. Rich, deep and persistent on the palate, it expresses intense aromas of crème brulée, dried fruit, raisins and quince. Try it with a selection of aged and blue cheeses or with an after-dinner dessert

The Casa Mariol Rancio Wine represents a complex expression in oxidative style produced with the "mother" of the wine preserved since 1945. The Spanish term "rancio", literally "rancid", identifies those wines aged for very long periods, during which they acquire peculiar oxidative notes. The category of Rancio is a true specialty in Catalonia, represented by wines both in dry and sweet versions. Traditionally, Rancio wines are exposed to selective contact with oxygen and are aged for long periods in barrels deliberately exposed to heat and strong temperature fluctuations.

Casa Mariol Rancio Wine comes from a selection of white grapes harvested at a very advanced state of ripeness. The fermentation process and aging take place in large oak barrels, where since 1945 the so-called "mother" of the same Rancio wine has been preserved. This consists of a large population of yeasts and bacteria that have self-selected over the decades, serving year after year as a fermentative inoculum for the new wine. Once the maturation period is over, the Rancio Wine is bottled in a one-liter format sealed with a screw cap.

Visually, the Rancio Wine signed by Casa Mariol displays a golden yellow appearance with intense amber and mahogany hues. The nose is intoxicated by vivid suggestions of caramel, raisins, quince, and nuts, with hints of cedar wood emerging from the background. The progression on the palate is broad and rich, warm and intense, characterized by an aftertaste of dried fruit and crème brûlée typical of Rancio wine. For these peculiar characteristics, this wine pairs excellently with dry pastries or blue cheeses, although it also provides excellent results when consumed alone as a meditation wine.
