Vie di Romans
The winery Vie di Romans has been owned by the Gallo family since the early 1900s and takes its name from its location along an ancient Roman road, in the local dialect: Vie di Romans. Since 1978, it has been led, with passion and expertise, by Gianfranco Gallo, who through rigorous and bold viticultural choices, combined with a careful oenological interpretation, has established a unique qualitative style with great personality. Even in his youth, Gianfranco was recognized as a master in the wine world, knowing grapes, techniques, and methods to produce wine according to recipe. And so, since 1984, the winery began a path of great growth where the wines spoke of quality and Gianfranco's skilled hand guided production and accompanied the processes.
The pursuit of ever-greater quality has characterized the winemaking of Vie di Romans over the last 30 years, making it a virtuous model in the Italian wine scene. The almost symbiotic interaction with the Isonzo valley and the quest for perfection in the cultivation of the various vineyards present in the area characterize the entire production line. Due to the composition of the soil and climatic conditions, the cultivation of white grape varieties (Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, Tocai Friulano) is favored, all marketed at least 2 years after the harvest, that is, at the right period of maturation, although there are also excellent reds based on Merlot in the range. The vineyards extend over an area of 60 hectares and the yields are kept very low to concentrate the content of each individual grape as much as possible.
The wines of Vie di Romans enhance the best characteristics of the Friuli Isonzo denomination, positioning themselves as great wines with a rich and complex aromatic profile. The quality of the bottles produced is due both to the expertise of Gianfranco Gallo and to the unique characteristics of the terroir, among which stands out the red soil, rich in skeleton, iron oxides, and aluminum. All of this has contributed to making Vie di Romans one of the protagonists of the Italian wine star system, boasting historic labels that have become reference models throughout the Friuli and beyond. A prestigious winery, a guarantee of quality.
