Tedeschi's Amarone della Valpolicella 'Marne 180' is a red wine that perfectly reflects the robust, full-bodied traits of the appellation, due in part to the drying process of the grapes and in part to the long ageing in oak barrels. The name 'Marne 180' is a reference to the type of soils where the vineyards destined for this label are planted, consisting precisely of marl, and their south-west to south-east exposure expressed in 180°. It is a blend of grapes from various plots distributed over the hills of Valpolicella, conceived by seeking a balance between the characteristics of each vineyard.
Tedeschi Amarone della Valpolicella 'Marne 180' is produced from a blend of Corvina Veronese (35%), Corvinone (35%) and Rondinella (20%), to which is added 10% of the Rossignola, Oseleta, Negrara and Dindarella vines. The vineyards are diverse and consist mainly of marl, red clay and limestone, with plenty of skeleton. Following the harvest, the bunches of grapes are dried in the drying loft for 4 months, after which they are softly pressed and the alcoholic fermentation is carried out at a controlled temperature, accompanied by 40-60 days of maceration on the skins. The mass is then transferred to Slavonian oak barrels for ageing for 30 months, followed by a further 6 months of bottle ageing before final marketing.
Tedeschi's 'Marne 180' Amarone della Valpolicella has an intense and consistent ruby red colour. Vivid and heady aromas of blueberry, currant, cherry jam, mint, chocolate and vanilla emerge from the glass. Soft and enveloping on the palate, with a robust structure, excellent freshness and velvety tannic texture.
