GAVI LA RAIA 2020 DESCRIPTION

The Gavi by La Raia is a wine that mostly expresses the tradition of the territory, showing the full potential and characteristics of the Cortese grape. We are in Novi Ligure, along the road of Monterotondo, in a cellar of 2500 square meters which is an example for the whole winemaking Piedmontese: technology, tradition and sense of aesthetics coexist perfectly, with the real jewel of the wall in pisé: a wall with 40 meters long and 5 meters high, partially buried, made exclusively in clay.

The perfect fusion with the hill behind him, the organic and the beautiful environment in which it was inserted, make this technique that uses the "raw land" a clear example harmony between man and land. The winery La Raia follows the biodynamic method: cultivation without fertilizers and synthetic chemicals, embellished with a conscious use of the soil, respecting the vital resources present in it. The corno silice and corno, the two main Steiner's preparations, improve the quality of the grapes and crops.

The land on which Gavi by La Raia is grown is composed of limestone and clay and stretches 400 meters above sea level. The harvest is done by hand in the second half of September and the must is fermented in stainless steel tanks. After 3-4 months on the lees, the wine is bottled in March. The result is a Gavi with a pale yellow color, that strikes the nose with fine mineral notes, expressing aromas of fruit and white flowers. On the palate Gavi by La Raia is lively, balanced by a beautiful freshness and pleasant persistence. Perfect as an aperitif, Gavi by La Raia pairs well with pasta dishes based on fish and vegetables, but it also goes beautifully white meats and fresh cheeses. A biodynamic Gavi that will win you over with its sweet and pleasant citrus notes, a perfect companion for anyone who wants to discover biodynamic wines.
