Organic and biodynamic
Perfect to drink every dayNero d'Avola “Materico” is a juicy and fruity red wine, with an agile, pleasant and refreshing flavour. Its aromas are reminiscent of wild berries and cherries, with hints of black pepper. The taste is fresh, fruity, pleasant and very drinkable.
The Nero d'Avola “Materico” from the Pellegrino winery is a red with a fruity and fragrant face. It is produced with the great red grape variety of Sicily, cultivated with very good results even in the Salaparuta area. This is a young red, vinified only in steel, so that it can preserve all the scents and varietal aromas of Nero d'Avola. It offers a lively drinking pleasure with notes of small berries, cherry, and delicate spices. Its agile and flowing sip makes it very suitable for pairing with flavorful first courses of Sicilian cuisine, white meats, or delicate roasted dishes.
The “Materico” Nero d'Avola from the Pellegrino winery is an organic wine that marks the evolution of this historic Sicilian winery towards a new conception of vineyard work, managed in complete harmony with nature and the surrounding environment. Pellegrino has been producing wines in Marsala since the late 19th century and represents a true piece of history of the region. The presence with different estates in various areas of western Sicily and on the island of Pantelleria has made Pellegrino one of the most important protagonists, before the development of modern viticulture and then the renaissance of Sicilian wine. Investments in the territory and the choice to work with indigenous grape varieties, always cultivated on the island, are just a sign of a deep attachment to the land and the oldest traditions.
The “Materico” wine from the Pellegrino winery is a red of great pleasure, fresh and young, particularly appreciated for its convivial delicacy and simplicity. The vineyards are cultivated in the Agro di Salaparuta countryside, in a beautiful area at 20 meters above sea level, characterized by young soils of deep clays rich in minerals. After a brief maceration at low temperature, the grapes are sent to fermentation with skin maceration in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Before bottling, the wine matures for 4 months in steel. It presents a bright ruby red color with youthful violet hues. On the nose, it expresses aromas of small red berries, ripe cherry, hints of aromatic herbs and delicate spices. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with a sip of expressive and rich fruit. The tannins are fine and the finish is balanced, fresh, and juicy.
