PRIMITIVO DI MANDURIA RISERVA 'ELEGIA' PRODUTTORI DI MANDURIA 2019 DESCRIPTION

Primitivo di Manduria Riserva "Elegia" is the richest and most structured version offered by the Produttori di Manduria winery of this classic Apulian wine. It is the most prestigious label produced from the oldest vines and aged for a long time in barriques. The olfactory picture is complex, with aromas of dark berry fruits, toasted notes, hints of vanilla and soft spices. The entry on the palate is warm and enveloping, with deep and persuasive aromas, great intensity and taste persistence.

Riserva "Elegia" is the Primitivo di Manduria that best represents the Apulian grape variety in the sign of richness and intensity. The Primitivo grape variety corresponds to an ancient Slavic variety the Crljenak Kaštelanski or Tribidrag and also shares the same DNA with the California Zinfandel. The name derives from its early ripening, with harvest between late August and early September. The Riserva comes from the vineyards of the Produttori di Manduria estate, which are more than 50 years old and produce with low yields of 60 quintals per hectare of high-quality grapes. The plantings, part bush-trained and part espalier, have a density of about 4000-5000 vines per hectare. The presence of many historical plots, allows each year to choose the best grapes and always produce wines of excellence. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel, and the wine rests in French Allier oak barriques for a full 12 months before being bottled.

Primitivo "Elegia" is a red with a warm, Mediterranean profile, broad, soft, rich and ripe. An important label to bring to the table to accompany roasted or braised red meats. The color is deep ruby red with garnet reflections. The nose opens with aromas of cherry, morello cherry, dark berry fruits, plum jam, black pepper, spices, hints of vanilla and woody. The palate is soft and broad, with rich fruit, complex and deep aromas, well-integrated silky tannins and balanced freshness.
