Abbazia San Giorgio

Rosé Wine 'Cloè' Abbazia San Giorgio 2020

Cloè from Abbazia San Giorgio is a refreshing rosé wine from the island of Pantelleria, aged for 6 months between steel and chestnut wood. With a light ruby red dress it expresses panache and maritime juiciness, between aromas of small red fruits, currants and raspberries, fanned with iodine and sea water, details of fresh caper. It is refreshing and dynamic with a mouthfeel full of savouriness and marine energy. Artisanal Wine, made with old style methods

ROSÉ WINE 'CLOÈ' ABBAZIA SAN GIORGIO 2020 DESCRIPTION

The "Cloè" of Abbazia San Giorgio is a grandiose rosé, a real humoral island juice in the glass. We cannot but note that some of the artisanal wines that most excite us come from a small island located halfway between Sicily and Africa. It will be the very mild climatic conditions, it will be the composition of the soils, so varied, it will be the enormous expressiveness of the local vines, or probably a mix of all this, The fact is that the terroir of Pantelleria occupies a special and almost detached space in the heart of us drinkers. Battista Belvisi is one that the island knows well, as well as the vineyard, since for many years he was the cellarman of Gabrio Bini, the proponent of what is probably the most famous wine of the island. In 2016 he decided to found his winery, that is Abbazia San Giorgio, which has just over 3 hectares of vineyards in Zibibbo, Catarratto, Nerello Mascalese and Perricone and cultivated without any artifice, or anything reminiscent of chemistry. Pure, unspoiled, uncompromising expressions.

The rosé "Cloè" of Abbazia San Giorgio is made from 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes, from vineyards that rest on volcanic soils. Real liquids children of the territory, without any filter. In the vineyard, in fact, the approach is absolutely non-interventionist, also to preserve the integrity of a unique terroir. In the cellar fermentation takes place spontaneously, with short maceration on the skins in the case of this rose that then ages for 6 months between steel and chestnut. No clarification or filtration.

The "Cloè" Rosato di Abbazia San Giorgio has a charming color, a ruby access that recalls that of precious stones. The nose, variegated and absolutely original, pistonuffa notes of pomegranate, marine refoli, Mediterranean scrub and red fruits. The taste follows the false line of the nose, that is, it faithfully tells the island, in a sensual embrace between freshness and salt, the latter deputy to allude greatly to its persistence. A journey without moving.

When to open
To enjoy an artisanal wine at its best, we recommend you to let it 'breathe' at least 15-30 minutes before serving
When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied rosé wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
Longevity
You can easily cellar it for 3-4 years
