CHAMPAGNE EXTRA BRUT BLANC DE MEUNIER PHILIPPE DECHELLE 2018 DESCRIPTION

Maison Philippe Dechelle's Extra Brut Blanc de Meunier Champagne is a cuvée with an original face and a distinct personality. It is a label made specifically to highlight and enhance the best characteristics of the Vallée de la Marne's iconic grape variety: the Meunier. This red grape, in fact, is almost always vinified in blends with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and is rarely found on its own. It is a classic harmonious Blanc de Noirs with rich and fruity aromas, giving a sip of remarkable gustatory pleasantness and a great gastronomic vocation. It is ideal for enjoying at the table with seafood first courses or with baked fish with delicate meats.

Extra Brut Blanc de Meunier is a Champagne from Philippe Dechelle, a small Maison artisanal that has been growing vines for several generations in the Vallée de la Marne area near Brasles. The estate's 9 hectares are situated in a hilly area on particularly suitable, sunny and well-ventilated soils. At the end of harvesting operations, the best Meunier clusters are pressed very softly to extract only the flower must. After decanting, white vinification is carried out, with fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle according to the Champenoise Method with a rest on the lees for at least 36 months.

Maison Philippe Dechelle's Blanc de Meunier Extra Brut is an unusual Champagne, perfect for discerning and curious aficionados who wish to broaden their knowledge and discover the peculiarities of this extraordinary red grape variety. The low dosage enhances the varietal notes, which are lively and intact. Rather an intense yellow in colour with faint golden highlights, it expresses a bouquet marked by fragrant aromas of small red berries, floral nuances and delicately spicy and toasted hints. Aromatically rich and with a smooth sip, it has ripe and expressive fruit that wins for its balance and persistence on the palate. The finish is long, fresh savoury.
