CERASUOLO DI VITTORIA 'FLORAMUNDI' DONNAFUGATA 2021 DESCRIPTION

Cerasuolo di Vittoria 'Floramundi' is a red wine that comes from the only DOCG in Sicily. It is a wine painstakingly crafted by Donnafugata, a production company that, in each of its labels, confirms its coat of arms and its reputation as a great Sicilian winery. "Floramundi" is born from the embrace of two indigenous red grape varieties par excellence, Nero d'Avola and Frappato, which give the wine an aromatic profile made of intense fruity aromas of black cherry and berries. A bottle in which the tannic component is skilfully managed, giving a silky sip that is hard to resist.

Floramundi' combines two indigenous red grape varieties, Nero d'Avola and Frappato, varieties cultivated in vineyards located on mainly sandy and calcareous soils. Harvesting is manual and fermentation takes place in steel vats, with maceration on the skins for about 10 days. It then ages for about 8 months in tanks and then in the bottle for at least 7 months.

The "Floramundi" is a Cerasuolo di Vittoria that, in the glass, shows an intense ruby red colour with brilliant violet reflections. The olfactory spectrum that develops on the nose after opening the bottle shows intense fruity aromas among which notes of black cherry and blackberries stand out; the bouquet opens to delicate balsamic nuances of bay leaves and characteristic spicy notes of black pepper. On the palate it is full-bodied, with a well-harmonised structure in every component and a velvety mouthfeel thanks to the tannin. A label with which Donnafugata interprets the only controlled and guaranteed denomination of origin in all of Sicily, giving us a pleasant wine of excellent workmanship.
