The Lugana Prestige by Cà Maiol is a fresh and aromatically complex and delicate interpretation from Lake Garda that smells of lime and green apple with details of wild thyme and white pepper, while at the mouthfeel it is pleasantly soft and of excellent balance, with a aromatic final fragrant
Lugana "Prestige" from the Ca' Maiol winery is a young, delicate white wine that benefits positively from the microclimate of Lake Garda, which, thanks to its ability to mitigate temperatures and to act, with its surface mass, as a mirror, radiates more light to the vines and grapes, contributing to their optimal development in terms of aromaticity and sugar concentration. This label is made from pure Trebbiano di Lugana grapes, also known by its ancient Roman name of Turbiana, from vineyards located a stone's throw from the lake in the municipality of Desenzano del Garda at an altitude of around 200 metres and cultivated using the double guyot method on soils characterised by clay-rich soils. The winery, which owns around 130 hectares under vine, was founded several years ago as a family business and is now part of the Santa Margherita wine group, one of the most important in terms of turnover in Italy. Production is directed towards innovation and renewal, with the ultimate goal of constantly improving its production of excellence.
Ca' Maiol's "Prestige" Lugana is produced from grapes harvested and carefully selected by hand around the first ten days of September. The bunches, brought to the cellar, are destemmed and softly pressed and then undergo alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel containers for several weeks. This is followed by racking and ageing in stainless steel tanks for a few months, after which the wine is filtered, clarified, bottled and left to mature in the bottle for a further 6 months before being put on the market.
The Lugana "Prestige" of Ca' Maiol presents itself to the eye with a straw yellow colour tending to golden. The nose reveals intense aromas of crisp fruit and citrus fruits, including green apple, kiwi and lime, fresh floral notes of lavender and Mediterranean herbs, including thyme, spicy hints of white pepper, enriched by a slight hint of musk and green herbs. On the palate it is soft, fresh and balanced, with a lingering finish of pleasant minerality and a slightly almondy aftertaste.
