Piccolo Derthona by Vigneti Massa is a very territorial white wine coming from vineyards located at 300 meters above sea level. Fresh and crystalline, easy to drink, with light aromas of wild flowers and notes that refer to orange peel.
Vigneti Massa Piccolo Derthona is an interpretation with a dynamic and sleek character that shows the more accessible face of Walter Massa's wines. This winemaker is considered the father of Timorasso in the Colli Tortonesi, the one who most contributed to the national and international revival and affirmation of the grape variety and territory. In fact, following the wine crisis due to phylloxera, Timorasso experienced a long period of oblivion, but thanks to figures such as Walter Massa, who were able to exalt its noble qualities, this grape was definitively relaunched. By Walter's own choice, Piccolo Derthona is classified as a table wine and is bottled with a stelvin cap.
Vigneti Massa's Piccolo Derthona originates from the sole grapes of a white grape variety grown on soils characterized by the presence of clay, limestone and marl, about 300 meters above sea level. The agronomic management embraced by Walter Massa is based on the true concept of sustainable viticulture. Following the harvest, the grapes are transferred to the winery for a brief cold pellicular maceration, followed by alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks conducted exclusively by the yeasts present on the grapes and in the cellar environment.
To the eye, Piccolo Derthona Vigneti Massa expresses a straw-yellow hue with greenish hues. The nose evokes pleasant aromas of yellow-fleshed fruit, citrus peel, white and wild flowers, herbs and fresh almond, combined with distinctive mineral notes. Fresh, smooth and clean on the palate, with a definite savory timbre that anticipates the mineral and pleasantly almondy finish. A white wine that is at its best as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to lightly structured seafood dishes.
