Casale del Giglio is unquestionably one of the most renowned and well-established wineries in the Lazio region, precisely in Agro Pontino, in the province of Latina. It was 1967 when Dino Santarelli, with vision, decided to invest in this area that represented at that time a new and virgin environment, all to be explored, especially from a viticultural point of view.

Casale del Giglio is located in Le Ferriere, near the ancient city of Satricum, 50 kilometers south of Rome and a short distance as the crow flies from the Tyrrhenian Sea, which, with its fresh and brackish breezes, embellishes the aromatic kit of the grapes, accompanying them until they are fully ripe. Today this reality, a symbol of enological Latium in the world, has 164 hectares under vine in the Agro Pontino district and an increasingly lively and growing approval both on the national and international market, witnessed by the numerous awards reported by the main wine guides. The Santarelli family, since the 1990s has been using the enological consultancy of Paolo Tiefenthaler, who has undertaken an intense research and experimentation project.

The goal Casale del Giglio has at heart in its production line is to enhance and interpret allochthonous varieties in the Latium terroir. Merlot and Petit Verdot from Bordeaux, Petit Mansang from Guasconia, and Viognier and Syrah from the Rhone Valley, these grapes with an international profile have perfectly adapted to the Agro Pontino terroir and its microclimate, positively influenced by the Tyrrhenian Sea. The results achieved are astonishing and a stable guarantee of quality, vintage after vintage, capable of transporting the drinker's mind to distant wine districts, while remaining anchored in the territoriality of Lazio. But the Santarelli family's project does not stop there: the region's indigenous varieties, first and foremost Bellone, also have the merit of being taken into account and enhanced in their aromatic richness. The targeted choices at the basis of production and the wise and well-measured entrepreneurship of the Santarelli family transformed into wine by Paolo Tiefenthaler's art of winemaking have allowed Casale del Giglio to establish itself as a point of reference in the Lazio region, and its widespread diffusion in Capitoline restaurants, in the best-kept large-scale distribution and in the best wine shops proves it.
