The Barbera d'Alba "Marun" is a full-bodied and intense expression of the Piedmont territory. The nose is marked by pleasant notes of spices and vanilla, with hints of red fruits. Freshness, elegance and sweetness characterize the taste profile
Matteo Correggia's Barbera d'Alba 'Marun' is one of the most representative labels of this Piedmontese winery, which interprets the territory and its historic vines with great respect for tradition. There is no wine more closely linked to daily routines than Barbera, which has always been considered the ideal table companion to accompany typical regional dishes. The quality of the grapes and careful vinification make it possible to preserve the vine's characteristic fruity vivacity, combined with an elegance and complexity resulting from well-calibrated ageing in wood, which always leaves fragrance and freshness in the foreground.
Barbera d'Alba 'Marun' is a Barbera d'Alba born from the desire of a young winegrower to bet on the value of his land, with the aim of making straightforward wines. The estate is located in the Roero area, on the left bank of the Tanaro river, opposite the famous Barolo and Barbaresco appellations. Marum' comes from grapes grown in the estate's vineyard of the same name, which is considered a cru for the consistently excellent quality of its production. The vineyards are located at an altitude of approximately 300 metres above sea level, with a south-facing exposure. The soils, mainly composed of sand, with the presence of silt and traces of clay, are light and well draining, capable of giving the reds great expressive finesse. Harvesting is carried out manually at the end of September and the best grapes are sent for fermentation in stainless steel vats with maceration on the skins for about ten days. The wine matures for 4 months in 30-hectolitre barrels and in used barriques and tonneaux, before completing ageing with at least 10 months in the bottle.
Matteo Correggia's Barbera d'Alba 'Marun' wine perfectly expresses the peculiar characteristics of the Roero terroir, giving a version of Piedmont's most popular wine all played on delicacy and elegance. In the glass, it has a luminous ruby colour with youthful purple reflections. The bouquet is characterised by floral scents of violets and iris, notes of cherries, strawberries, small berries and delicate spices. The delicate tannic texture is overshadowed by a fragrant fruity richness, which accompanies towards a fresh, lively finish with good aromatic persistence.
