The "Capichera" white wine, produced by the Sardinian winery of the same name, is a true icon wine, representing and synthesising the style of this famous producer. Created in 1980, the label quickly established itself as an indispensable point of reference for anyone wishing to market a high quality Vermentino. Its extraordinary elegance and richness make it not only one of the best wines of Gallura, but a white capable of competing, without any referential fear, even with great bottles from famous regions around the world. Its Mediterranean, fruity and marine character captivates from the first sip. It is a perfect bottle to accompany a fish menu.
This "Capichera" is a Vermentino and one of the flagship wines of this famous Sardinian winery, which for many years has been committed to the enhancement of local grape varieties. The Vermentino vines are 10-25 years old and are located in the heart of the Gallura region, at an altitude of 120 metres above sea level, with exposure ranging from east to west, in an environment that is still wild and uncontaminated, dominated by lush Mediterranean scrub. The soils are the result of the slow and progressive disintegration of granite rocks and siliceous sands, very well draining and rich in minerals. Harvesting takes place in September and the best bunches, selected in the vineyard, are softly pressed. Fermentation takes place in steel vats at a controlled temperature of 16/18 °C and lasts about four weeks. The wine matures for about six months, mainly in steel and a small part in wood.
The "Capichera" wine is a splendid expression of Vermentino, fragrant and sunny, and belongs to the elite of Sardinia's best labels. To the eye, it is light yellow in colour with beautiful, warm golden reflections. Intense and elegant, it conquers the nose with a bouquet characterised by scents of white flowers, aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean maquis, officinal herbs, thyme, rosemary, aromas of yellow-fleshed fruit, ripe peach, hints of iodine and mineral nuances of flint. On the palate, it is rich, with a harmonious mouthfeel, characterised by pleasant fruity notes and remarkable persistence. The finish is long, fresh and savoury. Vermentino at its best.
