VERMENTINO COLLI DI LUNI 'COSTA MARINA' OTTAVIANO LAMBRUSCHI 2021 DESCRIPTION

Ottaviano Lambruschi's Vermentino Colli di Luni 'Costa Marina' was born in Castelnuovo Magra in the province of La Spezia. Ottaviano inaugurated his business in 1970, purchasing two hectares of land; helped by his brother Alessandro, he started planting the first vineyard and began marketing his first bottles. In the 1980s, Ottaviano's son Fabio joined his father and uncle in the business, bringing with him the technical knowledge he had learnt at agro-technical school: the result was modern and innovative cellar and vineyard practices. The acquisition of new territories and respect for tradition have led to an excellent final product of the highest quality.

The vineyards of Ottaviano Lambruschi's Vermentino Colli di Luni 'Costa Marina' are composed of plants with an average age of about 30 years. The climate is Mediterranean, particularly mild in winter and sunny and warm in summer; the mountain range protects the rows from the cold northern winds and the breezes from the Ligurian Sea give the grapes aromatic intensity. The altitude is about 220 metres above sea level and the soil is composed of limestone and clay for structured final wines. The grapes are harvested by hand; alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel, where it also matures for 6 months.

The colour of Ottaviano Lambruschi's Vermentino Colli di Luni 'Costa Marina' is a straw yellow with bright greenish reflections. The aromas are reminiscent of yellow summer flowers, ripe yellow-fleshed fruit such as pear and pineapple and notes of aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean machine; in the mouth there is savouriness, freshness and a pleasant aftertaste of almonds with a persistence that entices glass after glass. In pairing it is recommended with first courses dressed with shellfish and molluscs, fish soups and smoked salmon; also interesting with white meats. Perfect for barbecues in the company of lifelong friends to savour the most authentic flavours of the Ligurian land.
