Brunello di Montalcino Col d'Orcia is the winery's flagship label, the one that best represents the style of one of the denomination's benchmark producers. It is a very traditional and balanced version, made with a selection of grapes grown on different vineyards, able to give an overall idea of the vintage. It is an elegant and mature Brunello, influenced by the Mediterranean nuances of the area of Sant'Angelo, which can enjoy the influence of inland breezes coming up from the Tyrrhenian coast. A bottle that can be drunk immediately with pleasure, but will reach full maturity only after a few years of bottle aging.
The red Brunello di Montalcino Col d'Orcia is made with grapes from vineyards grown in the hilly area of Sant' Angelo, at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level, with a sunny south exposure. The vines were planted with a selection of clones of the estate, isolated for the quality of their grapes. Harvesting operations are carried out manually with careful selection of the best bunches, which are then further checked in the winery on the sorting table before vinification begins. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with maceration on the skins for about three weeks to allow for a complete and rich extraction. The wine matures for four years, at least three of which are in Allier and Slavonian oak barrels of 25, 50 and 75 hectoliters capacity, and ends the aging period with at least 12 months in the bottle.
Brunello di Montalcino Col d'Orcia is a red wine that represents very well the happy union between a great producer and a particularly suitable territory. To the eye it has a luminous ruby red color with light garnet reflections. The olfactory picture is very elegant and refined, with scents of morello cherry, small berries, cherry, delicate spicy hints, floral nuances and aromatic herbs of Mediterranean scrub. The sip is intense and deep, with a lively tannic texture, harmonious, ripe and complex aromas of great expressive finesse, closing with a fresh and persistent finish. It is a splendid expression of the Brunello typical of the area of Sant'Angelo.
