Rouge 'Maquis' Domaine Vinci 2018

Domaine Vinci's 'Maquis' is a red wine made from an indigenous grape variety, not well known outside the area, the Lledoner Pelut, a mutation of the Grenache. Following the first two weeks of spontaneous fermentation, the wine stays on the lees for 12 months in steel tanks, without filtering. An elegant and velvety drink that hides aromas of bitter orange, sour cherry and spicy notes

ROUGE 'MAQUIS' DOMAINE VINCI 2018 DESCRIPTION

Domaine Vinci's Rouge "Maquis" is produced by a French winery located in the Languedoc Roussilon area, close to the nation's southeasternmost coast. Emmanuelle Vinci and Oliver Varichon decided to open their business in the area of the villages of Calce, Maury and Rivesaltes, historically devoted to wine production. Their working project wants to intervene as less as possible in the vineyard, in order to respect the natural stages of plant and raw material development, thus also compensating for natural difficulties, due to the steep slopes where the vineyards are located.

The pure Grenanche grapes in Domaine Vinci's Rouge "Maquis" are rooted in soils mainly composed of clay and limestone for fine and elegant final products. The vines have an average age of about 40 years old and grow in a thriving ecosystem that allows the grapes to reach optimal ripeness. The climate is temperate, since it is influenced by the Ligurian Sea, avoiding excessively high temperatures and sudden frosts during the winter. Grapes are harvested by hand. In the cellar, alcoholic fermentation occurs thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts and a 2-week maceration on the skins. It is aged in steel for 12 months.

The color of Domaine Vinci's Rouge "Maquis" is an intense and brilliant garnet red. The nose releases aromas of black cherry, currant and bitter orange with hints of sweet spices and nutmeg on the finish. On the palate it is elegant and fine with enveloping and velvety tannins, balanced by a lingering freshness for a satisfying sip. It pairs perfectly with grilled and stewed red meat cuts; interesting with mixed cured meats and blue cheeses. A product to share during summer barbecues with lifelong friends, to enjoy a genuine product with authentic flavors.
