RUBY KRASNA HORA 2020 DESCRIPTION

Krasna Hora 'Ruby' constitutes an artisanal expression of sleek, graceful taste from the Moravian wine-growing region of the Czech Republic. This bottle is derived from an articulate blend of red grapes, which includes Zweigelt, a genetic hybrid created in 1922 in Austria by Professor Fritz Zweigelt by crossing St. Laurent and Blaufrӓnkisch. It is one of the most popular grape varieties in the Czech Republic, locally called Zweigeltrebe, and is also particularly popular in Austria, where it is the most widely grown red grape, and in Canada. It is prized for its important vigor and consequent abundant yield.

'Ruby' Krasna Hora consists of a rich blend of Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, Saint Laurent, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Agronomic management follows the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, and once ripe, the grapes are hand-picked and then gently pressed, with the resulting must placed to ferment in open plastic vats by intervention of only indigenous yeasts. The fermentation process is accompanied by about a month of skin contact, and the subsequent maturation phase of a few months takes place in used oak barrels for 80 percent of the mass and in steel tanks for the rest. During the entire process the liquid is not subjected to any correction or filtration.

To the eye, Czech red wine Krasna Hora 'Ruby' reveals a vibrant ruby red color with faint purplish highlights. The nose reveals fascinating and harmonious hints of red fruits and plum that combine with floral and spicy nuances. Fresh and juicy on the palate, endowed with remarkable agility and delicate tannins. Precious savory and fruity finish.
