ETNA ROSSO FEDEGRAZIANI 2020 DESCRIPTION

"L'Etna Rosso "Fedegraziani" is a joyful expression from the northern slopes of the Sicilian giant. It also embodies the spirit of Federico Graziani, a versatile winemaker who has transitioned from being named "Sommelier of the Year" at 23 years old to a commercial manager in the wine industry and now to his current role as a viticulturist. Since its first vintage in 2014, the significant temperature variations between night and day during the summer period lend authenticity and freshness to this blend composed almost entirely of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. This land of contradictions, between sea and mountain, lava and water, translates into a unique and extraordinary terroir.

The Fedegraziani Etna Rosso comes to life from sandy and stony soils on a small land measuring 1.5 hectares. The vines, trained in the alberello system on the volcano's steep slopes, defy time with an average age of 75 years. The integrity of the grapes and the Etna nature are expressed in the glass under the guidance of Federico, who oversees exclusively manual vineyard work and allows for spontaneous fermentations. Created with the idea of being easily accessible to as many people as possible, it matures for 12 months in steel, followed by an additional 6 months of bottle ageing. The winery's main goal is valorising and promoting the Etna wine heritage, avoiding the use of systemic treatments and pesticides.

Federico Graziani's Etna Rosso enters the stage with subtlety but immediately reveals itself as elegant and captivating. To the eye, it appears as a brilliant ruby red, releasing aromas of red fruit and raspberries that meet a gentle spiciness on the finish, with hints of pepper and cardamom. It presents on the palate as fresh, refined, and dynamic, with a harmonious tannic perception and a mineral nuance. The result is an essential synthesis of pleasing mountain clarity and Mediterranean salinity.
