Riesling Trocken Wageck 2020

The Riesling Trocken by Wageck is a German white of great typicality, fresh and citrusy. Produced from grapes harvested in the main plots around the winery, this 'cuvée' is an excellent introduction to the terroir of Pfalz. To the nose elegant hints of lemon and peaches anticipate the lively profile of the wine in mouth. On the palate it is crisp, with great freshness and good body, really persistent, ideal to accompany fish or a light dish of white meat

RIESLING TROCKEN WAGECK 2020 DESCRIPTION

Weingut Wageck's Riesling Trocken is a German wine originating from the small village of Bissersheim in southeastern Germany. Frank and Thomas now represent the fifth generation of the Wegeck family, which has long managed its vineyards with love and passion, perpetuating the tradition of the art of winemaking. The winery's motto is that quality is created in the vineyard, respecting the surrounding ecosystem and the raw material; the enhancement of the terroir through the recovery of old grapes is also fundamental.

Weingut Wageck's Riesling Trocken vineyards are located to the south and southeast, and the sun hits them with its rays steadily, allowing them to ripen very well. The soil is chalky, ensuring a structure of character and elegance to the final product. The climate is continental with cold, harsh winters prone to snowfall and hot, sultry summers. Grapes are harvested by hand and then a selection of the best bunches occurs, resulting in lower yields but higher quality. Alcoholic fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts and ages several months in steel.

To the eye, Weingut Wageck's Riesling Trocken is straw yellow with golden highlights and the bouquet of aromas is reminiscent of apple, peach, citrus and hints of white flowers and herbs on the finish. In the mouth the structure is fresh and juicy with mineral and fresh hints on the finish that entice glass after glass. Excellent paired with steamed fish, shellfish and crustaceans; also interesting white meats and aged cheeses. A wine for evenings in the company of lifelong friends to share together an ambassador of a territory with enormous potential.
