Maison Padié

Maison Padié is an artisanal production reality in the wine region of Rossiglione, led by Jean-Philippe Padié, a French vigneron who spontaneously aims to reveal the soul of his terroir. The winery is located precisely in Calce, in the Vallée de l’Agly, north of the Pyrenees, where in 2003 Jean-Philippe, after completing his studies in agronomy in Montpellier and working at important estates in Rossiglione such as Mas Amiel and Domaine Gauby, founded Maison Padié.

The 15 hectares of vineyards owned by Maison Padié are distributed over about 30 plots, differentiated by pedological characteristics and surrounded by Mediterranean herbs. Three formations prevail: limestone marls, schists, and limestone clays. Furthermore, the simultaneous proximity to the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea determines the development of a unique microclimate, of Mediterranean style, characterized by significant daily thermal excursions and the constant presence of winds. Following the principles of organic farming, certified since 2007, and biodynamics, Jean-Philippe cultivates Carignan, Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre for black grape varieties, while Grenache Gris, Macabeu, and Grenache Blanc are among the whites. The harvest is done by hand, and the same genuine approach is adopted in the winery, where fermentations occur spontaneously thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts, the extraction processes for reds are delicate, the use of enological aids and additives is strictly excluded, and the use of sulfites is minimal. As wine containers, cement tanks or old oak barrels are used, in order not to alter the intrinsic characteristics of the wines.

The range of bottles offered by the Maison Padié winery aims to unveil the different facets of the Vallée de l’Agly territory, with whites and reds endowed with a vibrant Mediterranean character and a distinct mineral vein given by the peculiarity of the soils. Three are the lines that encompass Jean-Philippe's production: ‘Les Vins de Temps’, ‘Les Vins de Cailloux’, and ‘Les Vins de Fruit’.
