Serafini e Vidotto

The Agricultural Company Serafini e Vidotto is the winemaking reality created in 1985 by two friends, winemakers and farmers, Francesco Serafini and Antonello Vidotto. The meeting with the landscape of Marca Trevigiana was decisive in transforming what was just an intuition into a real company, from which the first bottled vintage of 1987 would emerge. In due time, Matteo Serafini joins the team: having grown up among the vineyards and the cellar, he trained as a winemaker at the schools of Conegliano and San Michele all’Adige, also gaining important experiences abroad.

The property of Serafini e Vidotto extends over about 20 hectares of vineyard surrounding the winery, within the municipality of Nervesa della Battaglia, in the territory of DOC Montello and Colli Asolani: we are in the central-northern part of Veneto, north of Treviso and on the banks of the Piave, resting at the foot of the first hilly area that stretches from east to west. The soil is characterized by clay varied by a high percentage of iron components, which confer structure to the wines, while the soil consists of sandstone, which is expressed in mineral nuances. The cultivated varieties are a precise representation of the typicity and history of these areas, formed by international and indigenous grapevines. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon have long found a particularly suited terroir here, becoming the flagships, along with a significant portion of Pinot Noir, while the international white grape varieties are represented by Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, and Chardonnay. The indigenous team is led by the absolutely local Recantina, and also includes the whites Incrocio Manzoni and naturally Glera. The agronomic approach is oriented towards maximum environmental sustainability, avoiding chemical herbicides and using company compost for fertilization; biodiversity is also protected and pollination is favored by the spread of hedges and woods and the constant monitoring of water.

the blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot: vinified separately and aged for 15 to 18 months in wood, gives rise to the award-winning “Rosso dell’Abazia”, the Bordeaux that has written the 35 years of the company’s history. The same blend, but with a shorter aging in the cellar, is used to create “Phigaia – After The Red”, the red that immediately achieved unexpected success. A part of the production is dedicated to Prosecco, while the collection is completed with whites, from pure grapes or blends, and still reds from Pinot Noir and Recantina.
