Tenuta Rustìca
Tenuta Rustìca is located in Sicily in a splendid territory at the foot of Mount Etna. Its name derives from the homonymous Contrada of the Alcàntara river valley, situated at an altitude of 580 meters above sea level. The origins of the estate are ancient, belonging to the Fisauli family of Casalgiordano since the distant 16th century. Today, at the helm of the company is the thirteenth generation, which passionately and competently carries on the tradition of cultivating vines and olives, for the production of wine and oil, still with a handcrafted approach and care. It is a small quality production dedicated to enthusiasts, who are in search of the authentic flavors of the territory, the tastes of the past, far from the industrial standardization introduced by modern society.
Within the property, in addition to the 17th-century manor house, there is the Rocca Pizzicata, an ancient rock complex immersed in a forest, which preserves archaeological finds of exceptional value. Among these are also some ancient stone presses for winemaking, which testify to the presence of vine and wine culture in these lands since ancient times. A good part of the estate's land was reclaimed in the 1970s by Giuseppe and Antonio Fisauli of Casalgiordano, which helped to expand the cultivable area. The particular location between the Etna volcano and the Alcàntara river creates a unique pedoclimatic situation and a territory rich in natural biodiversity, still wild and unspoiled, which allows the vine and olive to express themselves at high qualitative levels.
The vines of Nerello Mascalese and Grecanico Dorato enjoy an excellent exposure that allows for healthy ripening of the grapes. The vines are managed with low yields and produce few clusters per plant with concentrated and rich aromas. The very favorable climate and the perfect interaction between the vineyard and the surrounding natural ecosystem allow for vineyard management with very few treatments throughout the year. The harvest takes place at the beginning of October with manual picking and a rigorous
