The Alta Langa Blanc de Noirs "For England" Contratto is a 100% Pinot Noir Metodo Classico made from grapes grown in the area of the Langhe, which rises towards the mountainous reliefs on the border with Liguria. In this wonderful area of high hills, Pinot Noir expresses itself with a character of great freshness and aromatic finesse. White vinification enhances its natural elegance, while retaining its typical structure and complexity. The long ageing on yeasts gives the bouquet refined notes of citrus fruits, berries, hints of dried fruit and balsamic hints. It is an intense and vibrant Metodo Classico perfect for serving throughout the meal.
Spumante Metodo Classico Alta Langa "For England" by Contratto is a Blanc de Noirs produced by one of Piedmont's oldest wineries. The history of Contratto goes back as far as 1867, and the first bottles of Metodo Classico Millesimato produced with Moscato Bianco di Canelli in 1919 are due to its experimentation. It was precisely in those years that the "For England" line was born, a product suited to the taste of the average Englishman, who demanded dry Champagnes without residual sugar. Today, the Metodo Classico Contratto is produced with grapes from the Bossolasco area. Forty hectares of vineyards cultivated mainly with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, which produce high quality grapes. Thanks to the excellence of the raw material and the centuries-old Piedmontese tradition in the art of sparkling wine making, the Alta Langa denomination is carving out an increasingly important place for itself in the Italian Metodo Classico scene. Contratto's Blanc de Noirs "For England" is an Alta Langa Metodo Classico made from Pinot Noir grapes only, from old vineyards cultivated at an altitude of 750 metres, on soils with a prevalently sandy matrix. After soft crushing, the must is vinified in white and the base wines rest a few months before the creation of the definitive cuvée. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle, according to the Metodo Classico procedure, with an ageing period on the lees for at least 48 months. The wine is golden yellow in colour, with a fine and persistent perlage. The olfactory profile recalls aromas of small red berries, citrus fruits nuances, hints of dried fruit and delicately toasted hints. On the palate it has a good structure, with an incisive, deep sip that stretches with energetic tension towards a fresh, mineral finish. An uncompromising label for those who love classic, traditional wines.
