RIBERA DEL DUERO 'FLOR PINGUS' DOMINIO DE PINGUS 2018 DESCRIPTION

Ribera del Duero 'Flor Pingus' from Dominio de Pingus is a legendary wine, one of Spain's most famous labels. A complex, structured and long-lived red, and a true ambassador of the great Iberian tradition and in particular of the famous Ribera del Duero region. It is an absolute excellence of Spain's territory and of the red grape variety Tinto Fino, a local clone of Tempranillo. It's a wine of extraordinary elegance, admirably combining intense, ripe fruit aromas with refined evolutionary notes, resulting from a long ageing in wood. A great wine to drink at least once in a lifetime.

"Flor Pingus" Ribera del Duero by Dominio de Pingus is the flagship label of this famous winery based in Quintanilla de Onésimo, near Valladolid. The estate covers an area of 45 hectares in the heart of Ribera del Duero's vineyard, in the region of Castilla y Léon. The vineyards are located in the beautiful Duero river valley, characterized by suitable soils and a mild climate with good temperature fluctuations, which allow slow and optimal ripening of the grapes. The vineyards are managed in the traditional way, with simple work and very low yields per plant, so that maximum concentration can be achieved. Fermentation takes place spontaneously using only indigenous yeasts and the wine ages for a period of at least 18 months in French oak barrels.

Ribera del Duero 'Flor Pingus', produced by Dominio de Pingus, is a prestigious bottle, to be enjoyed among connoisseurs on a special evening and paired with an important dinner, with roast beef or game dishes. To the eye, it is dark ruby red in colour with light garnet reflections. On the nose, it captivates with an intense and elegant bouquet, offering aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry, plum, hints of liquorice root, bitter cocoa, tobacco, vanilla, oriental spices and hints of wood. Structured and enveloping, it has an aromatically deep sip, dressed in a dense, ripe and evolved tannic texture. The finish is long, harmonious and very persistent.
