VALPOLICELLA CLASSICO ALLEGRINI 2023 DESCRIPTION

"Light, fresh, red and friendly, like the home of a brother you get along with". These are the words Allegrini borrows from the great Ernest Hemingway to describe Valpolicella Classico, a blend of indigenous grape varieties that presents itself with a youthful personality and a dynamic sip. An enthralling red wine with fresh aromas, expressing the most traditional characteristics of one of the most important denominations in the Veneto region, which Allegrini, a winery that under the careful guidance of Franco and Marilisa has become synonymous with the excellence of Italian wine in the world, presents with an unmistakable style.

Valpolicella Classico DOC is made by Allegrini from a blend typical of the area, where Corvina Veronese is joined by a good percentage of Rondinella and 5% Molinara. The vines, grown using both the Trentino pergola and simple guyot systems, have an average age of around 33 years and grow on hillsides characterised by a subsoil with a strong presence of clay and limestone. After harvesting, the grapes are fermented in steel for 9 days at a temperature of between 25 and 31 degrees Celsius. This is followed by the ageing phase, which takes place only in steel until mid-February.

The Valpolicella Classico produced by the Allegrini wine cellar manifests itself to the eye with a ruby red colour, crossed by slight violet reflections. The nose is fragrant, pervaded by subtle and elegant aromas, where flowers and fruit alternate with more spicy nuances. On the palate it is light-bodied, slender, marked by a drinkable sip, where the tannins are barely accentuated. A very versatile label from a gastronomic point of view, which can be appreciated throughout a meal, both with earthy first courses and with red and white meat main courses.
