Antichi Vigneti Manca

In Romangia, in the splendid viticultural context of the Gulf of Asinara, the family-run winery Antichi Vigneti Manca operates, a protagonist of a small artisanal production that reflects the sunny and Mediterranean essence of the territory. At the helm of the estate, located in the municipality of Sorso, are the two sisters Noemi and Alessia Manca, who officially started their winemaking activity in 2017 driven by a visceral passion for the world of wine and love for their magnificent land. Noemi and Alessia have inherited the winemaking legacy of their great-grandfather, grandfather, and father, who have always been winemakers in Romangia. The foundation of the family's philosophy is the safeguarding and enhancement of the varietal heritage of the territory of which they are guardians.

The 6 hectares of vineyards cultivated by Antichi Vigneti Manca are mostly located within the cru of Badde Pira, where on predominantly calcareous soils rich in white marls grow saplings of the native grape varieties Cannonau, in the local clone Retagliadu Nieddu, Vermentino, Girò Bianco, Moscato, and Pascale. The vines, which can be up to 50 years old, naturally produce very low yields, concentrating dry substances and aromas in each individual grape cluster. The grapes are hand-picked at full ripeness, with careful selection, and are then fermented in open tanks for spontaneous fermentation, without temperature control. The subsequent aging takes place in concrete tanks for both whites and reds, and the wines are finally bottled without undergoing any clarification or filtration, with only small doses of sulfur dioxide.

The main labels produced by Antichi Vigneti Manca are the Red ‘Li Surreddi’ and the White ‘Li Surreddi’, two genuine and straightforward expressions in symbiosis with the territory of Romangia. In particular, the Red ‘Li Surreddi’ is a warm, enveloping, and structured Cannonau, rich in aromas of Mediterranean scrub, while the White ‘Li Surreddi’ is a complex orange wine with a salty soul. The term “li surreddi” comes from the local dialect and means “the sisters.”
