Antoniotti
For over 150 years, the Antoniotti family has passionately and wisely cultivated the hills of the Bramaterra area in Piemonte, always embodying a highly traditionalist approach, establishing itself as a reference point for the entire region. The estate, founded in 1860, is located precisely in the hamlet of Casa del Bosco in Sostegno, a municipality situated near the Biellese Alps, in Alto Piemonte. Today, Odilio Antoniotti and his son Mattia, the seventh generation of winemakers in the family, manage the winery with the same attitude and perseverance as their predecessors, committed to enhancing two of the smallest DOCs in Italy: Bramaterra and Coste della Sesia.
The Antoniotti estate has just 5 and a half hectares of vineyards, planted on the characteristic acidic and rocky volcanic soils that distinguish the Bramaterra area, rich in porphyry and mineral elements such as iron and manganese. In addition to Nebbiolo, the flagship grape of the winery, the Antoniottis cultivate other traditional varieties: Croatina, Vespolina, and Uva Rara. The The altitudes range from 400 to 450 meters above sea level, while the climate is sunny and well-ventilated, ideal for quality viticulture, also thanks to the significant temperature variations between day and night. The agronomic management adopted by Odilio and Mattia follows sustainability, thus excluding the use of herbicides, allowing only minimal doses of copper and sulfur in plant protection. Fermentations occur spontaneously thanks to the sole intervention of indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks or ancient buried vitrified cement tanks, with the subsequent aging periods taking place in large Slavonian oak barrels and tonneau. The wines are finally bottled without any clarification or filtration operations.
