Aurete
The Aurete estate was established in 2016 by three friends who decided to turn their passion for wine into a true professional activity. From the very beginning, a philosophy aimed at producing a craft and genuine wine, capable of enhancing the territory of Esperia, an area that boasts a millennia-old tradition in viticulture, was chosen. The vineyards are located at the foot of the first hills of the Monti Aurunci, near Monticelli. The area enjoys a very particular microclimate, influenced by the sea breezes that rise from the Gulf of Gaeta and the cooler continental temperatures of the mountainous inland. In ancient times, the region was known as Caecubus Ager Formianum and was already famous in Roman times for the excellent quality of its wines.
From a geological point of view, this area of lower Lazio was generated by tectonic events that brought ancient rock formations rich in karst phenomena, such as caves and sinkholes, to the surface. The soil composition consists of limestone rocks covered by soils rich in minerals, particularly iron and magnesium. These are poor and draining soils, very suitable for viticulture. The property extends over an area of four hectares, divided into different parcels: Aurete, Via Romana, and Cariano. Among the rows, there are as many as 19 varieties historically cultivated in these lands, including Raspato nero and Reale bianca. The estate also hosts old vineyards, particularly a pre-phylloxera vineyard of Raspato nero and other native grapes, which is over 180 years old and constitutes a precious historical memory of the territory. In the Aurete vineyard, there are also ancient vines married to trees, according to Etruscan tradition.
The company philosophy is inspired by principles of sustainability and respect for nature, in order to produce genuine and healthy grapes. For this reason, the principles of biodynamics are adopted in the vineyard. Special attention is given to the vitality of the soils and the presence of humus. For treatments in the vineyard, only copper, sulfur, horn manure, and horn silica are used, with
