Bain Alexandre
Alexander Bain is an eccentric artisan winemaker who embodies revolution and avant-garde, decidedly counter to the territory that hosts him, namely the area of the Loire Valley of Pouilly Fumé, near the famous village of Sancerre, which exudes tradition and enological dogmas for decades. Thanks to the help of his faithful steed Phenomenon, Alexandre cultivates his vineyards with rigor and artisan philosophy, through the principles of biodynamic agriculture. He acquires his passion for vineyards and agriculture directly from his grandfather, who managed a farm during his childhood, and at 18 he decides to pack his bags to attend the wine school in Beaune, in the heart of the prestigious Burgundy, to learn the art of winemaking.
Alexandre Bain hones his profession around the wine regions of France and returns, in 2007, to Tracy-sur-Loire where he purchases his first vineyard: he begins to work the soils only with the help of his horse Phenomenon, a technique already known especially in Burgundy and primarily implemented to avoid soil compaction through the weight of machinery.agricultural. The work in the vineyard on horseback does not increase the soil density, leaving the roots of the vines naturally oxygenated. Also thanks to the meeting with his vineyard neighbor, none other than the established and eccentric artisan of macerated Sancerre Sebastien Riffault, Alexandre shapes his agriculture with minimal intervention in the cellar, to bring out the most authentic nature of his fortunate territory from the glasses.
At Domaine Alexandre Bain, all soils are not altered by synthetic chemical substances, just as his labels do not include added sulfites to not mask the most authentic terroir of this corner of the Loire, where the principal grape variety is embodied by Sauvignon Blanc, always the noblest white grape variety that populates the vineyards of this geographical area. Here Alexandre now manages 11 hectares of vineyards and stands out from other producers especially through a late harvest, when his grapes reach a more substantial ripeness and are able to unleash in the finished products.richer and more enveloping sensations, characterized by greater density and intense tropical aromas.
