Birrificio Rurale
The Birrificio Rurale was born in 2009 from the desire of five friends who loved beer to turn a passion into a real entrepreneurial activity. The basic idea was to remain faithful to the ancient agricultural tradition of the Lombard countryside, which also inspired the name of the brewery. Lorenzo Guarino, Silvio Coppelli, Beppe Serafini, Marco Caccia, and Stefano Carnelli, in addition to attending courses on unpasteurized craft beers by the famous master brewer Agostino Arioli, enjoyed themselves as homebrewers, spending evenings between malt and hops trying their hand at brewing art until the moment of the big leap.
It was during this phase of experimentation and learning that the idea of finding a stable location to begin to realize their passion was born. The location was found in Cascine Calderari, a small hamlet of Certosa Pavia. An old concrete silo, once used to store cereals and grains, was adapted and transformed into a small brewery. The three floors of the building were designated as a mill, brewing room in the center, and maturation room and cellar on the ground floor. The micro-brewery worked in small batches, with brews of 700 liters at a time, but despite the limited production and distribution, the first national recognitions soon arrived.
The original and unusual location carved out of the silo began to feel cramped due to a demand that continued to grow following market requests. By now, the experimental phase of the activity had successfully concluded, and it was necessary to think about expanding the company to increase production. In 2013, the new headquarters in Desio was inaugurated, a large area on a single floor, which made work much simpler and easier. The availability of large spaces and new machinery allowed for better and more efficient work, with a nominal capacity of 20 hectoliters. The range of beers has been enriched with new labels, which reinterpret the most famous classic international models with an original and innovative spirit. Success has crossed national borders, and the bottles of Birrificio Rurale have now conquered the markets of the main European countries, the United States, and Hong Kong.
