Bisi
The Bisi winery is located in the splendid hilly landscape of Oltrepò Pavese, the southern area of Lombardy, which constitutes one of the most vocated territories of the region for wine production. The estate currently extends over about thirty hectares. It was created from the Roncolongo vineyard, still today one of the best company crus, purchased back in 1926. The tradition of viticulture has been passed down from father to son and today it is the third generation that carries on the company in the name of the best customs of the territory. From a soil perspective, the Oltrepò Pavese area is characterized by the presence of calcareous-clay marls of Eocene origin, with the lower areas richer in clays and with some gypsum veins crossing the territory, contributing to increase its complexity.
Since its origins, the winery has oriented itself towards the production of authentic and genuine wines that can authentically represent local customs. Precisely to stay true to this choice, the the winery has decided to focus on the cultivation of grape varieties historically present in this area, the indigenous Croatina, Barbera, widespread throughout the area that stretches from Monferrato to Piacentino passing through Oltrepò and Malvasia. The international Pinot Nero and Riesling are also present, which have been cultivated in these lands since the end of the 19th century and have adapted particularly well, achieving results of absolute excellence at the national level.
In the countryside, viticulture is practiced in a very environmentally friendly way. The company adheres to the ViNO project, which aims to promote biodiversity in the vineyard, through the adoption of a protocol aimed at safeguarding some protected animal species typical of the territory. The harvests take place at full ripeness, with the selection of the best bunches in the vineyard and the grapes are quickly transported to the winery to proceed with the vinifications. Particular attention is paid to Bonarda, the most typical wine of the territory, made with Croatina and Barbera. The winery adheres, in fact, to the project of the Quality Wine District of Oltrepò Pavese, which provides for the use of a more severe and restrictive disciplinary compared to that of the DOC and the marketing of the wine in a particular bottle that guarantees its recognizability.
