Bodega Garzon
Bodega Garzón is an intriguing wine reality from Uruguay. This small South American country, located at the border with Brazil and Argentina, is situated at a latitude that places it in the southern hemisphere's geographic belt particularly suitable for vine cultivation. The winery belongs to one of the great names in South American wine. Alejandro Bulgheroni and his wife Bettina immediately fell in love with the Garzón estate and decided to invest, confident in the extraordinary potential of the terroir. The goal was clear from the start: to produce great wines that could express the best characteristics of the area. For this reason, the project soon involved the winemaker Alberto Antonini, a prominent figure in the international wine world, who boasts experience in high-level wineries.
The estate is located in a particularly suitable area. The proximity to the sea coast ensures a mild and always breezy climate, thanks to the constant breezes from the Atlantic Ocean, which help keep the grapes dry and healthy. The vineyards are located at an altitude of about 160 meters above sea level. From a geological point of view, the Garzón area is part of the Crystalline Basement, a rock formation that dates back 2500 million years and has given rise to the oldest soils on our planet. The soils are the result of a gradual and slow disintegration of these rocks, which have created a soil rich in mineral substances, known as Ballast. The beautiful hillside exposures make the estate an ideal place for high-quality viticulture, resulting in labels of excellence.
The property is divided into many plots, each with a unique microclimate, exposure, and soil composition. A small mosaic of vineyards that allows each grape variety to be cultivated in the most suitable place. To ensure the highest quality, the grapes are hand-harvested with selection in the vineyard, then brought to the winery in small crates to avoid damaging the grapes. The vinifications are carried out with the utmost respect for the terroir and using the most advanced techniques to enhance the varietal characteristics of the grapes to the fullest. The range of wines produced is very broad and includes prestigious labels that have received important international awards.
