Bodega Rolland
Bodega Rolland is the Argentinian creation of one of the most famous personalities in the wine world. The French winemaker Michel Rolland, a true "Flying winemaker," is an absolute reference point for contemporary wine styles. Born in Pomerol, in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards, he has been involved in projects worldwide for over 40 years, but has now chosen Argentina as his second home, founding his own winery. Michel Rolland arrived in Argentina in 1988, invited for consultancy by Arnaldo Etchart. Discovering Argentina was a true revelation for Rolland. The Etchart company is located in the northwest of the country, in Cafayate and Salta, at about 1700 meters above sea level, in a very picturesque area. Ten years later, the Etchart winery was sold, and the family purchased land in the Yacochuya area, with an old Malbec vineyard planted in 1915 at 2030 meters above sea level. Rolland proposed to Etchart to create a company together to start a new adventure.
Michel Rolland was is a small jewel set in a terroir of exceptional value, flooded by the clear brightness of the clear sky at altitude and with a view of the eternal snows of the Cordillera. Here a special wine is born, which manages to synthesize all the charm of the terroir and highlights the extraordinary potential, still partly unexpressed, of the Argentine terroir. We must acknowledge Michel Rolland for having been able to identify in this land the most vocated plots and for having transported across the ocean the savoir-faire learned in decades of work in the most important and prestigious Châteaux of Bordeaux.
