Bodega Secreto Patagonico

Bodega Secreto Patagonico is a family-run winery. It produces high-end wines that faithfully reflect the characteristics of Patagonia, the southernmost region of Argentina. It is a fascinating and extreme land, still virgin and wild, dominated by primordial natural elements. It represents the new frontier of Argentine viticulture and in recent decades it has stood out as one of the most promising areas overall. The estate is located near San Patricio del Chañar in Neuquén and covers a total area of 60 hectares, divided into various parcels. The philosophy of the winery is quality-oriented. Both in the vineyard and in the winery, the aim is to maximize the personality of the grape varieties and the terroir.

Patagonia represents a particular microcosm, where the vine has found very favorable conditions to express itself at high qualitative levels. The climate is very hot and dry, almost desert-like, with cold winters and sunny, bright summers. The temperature fluctuations both between the seasons and between day and night temperatures are significant and the grapes mature slowly. The area is always swept by strong and constant winds, which contribute to the health of the clusters, greatly limiting the need for treatments in the vineyard. The soils in the San Patricio del Chañar area are poor, sandy and rocky. Rainfall is scarce and the vineyards are equipped with emergency irrigation systems, fed by the purest waters that flow down from the perennial snows of the Andes Mountains.

The grapes are the result of careful vineyard management, based on low yields per hectare and a rigorous selection of the best parcels. All harvests are carried out with manual grape picking, which are selected in the vineyard and then in the winery on sorting tables, before starting the vinifications. The winery has been designed to take advantage of gravity throughout the production cycle, without the use of pumps to avoid stressing the musts and wines and to ensure the company's sustainability. The winery practices are carried out naturally, with minimal oenological intervention, always seeking to obtain honest and genuine wines. The aging takes place using carefully selected French and American oak barrels.
